︎ Somewhere in between
文化の入り混じる場所のなんと居心地のいいことだろう
ひとつのものさしではかられないという安心
異なりに寛容な世界を求めている
When I left Japan the homogenous cultural sphere, I felt at ease in the mix of cultures. Relief that they are not measured by one standard. A world that is not judged by one scale. Since then, I have been seeking a world that is tolerant of differences.

The project "Somewhere in between" is an activity to find a place in between somewhere and somewhere else. Taking photographs of vegetation, cityscapes, and the behavior and lifestyle of people in each country, collecting them, and pairing two of them with each other from my collection. The universal beauty that remains unchanged even in different countries and the commonalities that can be shared even in faraway countries resonate. In doing so, I affirm my dual belonging to Japan and Europe, and explore the nature of a sense of belonging on a global scale.
